I offer an accepting and warm therapeutic relationship. Perhaps you need space, release from painful emotions or something just doesn’t feel right.
Working as both an Integrative and Art Psychotherapist offers alternative ways to express yourself if you struggle with accessing your emotions or can’t quite put your finger on the issue and I have neurodivergent clients who have found these broader approaches helpful too.
I work gently with you, with whatever you are struggling with right now. Helping you to feel like yourself again, to form relationships you value or to authentically meet your goals.
My approach is LGBTQIA+ affirmative and anti-oppressive, which means keeping your cultural, social and political identity and values central to the therapy.
More on an Integrative Psychotherapy approach
At the core of my approach is practicing with a person-centred, compassionate and humanistic approach. I work in a trauma informed way.
Integrative Psychotherapy means that I tailor our approach to your needs. This can include Emotion-Focused Therapy, Parts Work Therapy or Somatic (body based) approaches. I often work Psychodynamically, to deepen understanding of our patterns to help break them.
More on an Arts Psychotherapy approach
Perhaps there are certain thoughts holding you back or emotions that seem out of reach - sometimes using the Arts can help us understand what is really going on.
Neuroscience has shown us that engaging our emotional and intuitive brain can offer new ways to access paths of healing. I have seen Art Psychotherapy work well with trauma, including complex trauma, releasing people from overwhelming triggers. I have also seen it support neurodivergent clients and people stuck in relationship patterns.
The Arts can range from bringing in imaginative exercises, metaphor, dream work, sand tray, body work, image and clay to create a lens to focus on what you would like to look at.
