North East Wales Mind (www.newmind.org.uk) is a dedicated charity committed to supporting individuals experiencing emotional distress and mental health difficulties across Flintshire and Wrexham. They firmly believe that everyone deserves access to timely and compassionate mental health services, irrespective of waiting lists or accessibility barriers. Their multifaceted approach offers a range of services designed to provide immediate support and foster long-term well-being.

One of the key ways North East Wales Mind can help is by offering a listening ear in a safe and non-judgmental environment. Their trained staff and volunteers provide a space for individuals to express their feelings and concerns openly, which can be incredibly cathartic and a crucial first step towards feeling understood and supported. This initial contact can be accessed through their drop-in service at The Wellbeing Centre in Mold or via their phone and email support lines, which are open during weekdays and extended hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

For those seeking more in-depth support, North East Wales Mind offers counselling services delivered by qualified therapists. These sessions provide a confidential space to explore feelings and emotions, understand the root causes of difficulties, and develop coping strategies. They offer both individual and relationship counselling, with flexible session times and the option for face-to-face, Zoom, or telephone appointments. This accessibility ensures that individuals can access support in a way that suits their needs and circumstances. Furthermore, they collaborate with the Parabl Partnership to offer free counselling, making support more readily available.

Recognising the value of peer connection, North East Wales Mind facilitates social groups and peer support initiatives. These provide opportunities to connect with others who have similar experiences, fostering a sense of belonging and reducing feelings of isolation. Sharing experiences and coping strategies within a supportive community can be incredibly empowering and contribute significantly to improved mental well-being. Examples include their Buckley Walk & Talk sessions, which combine physical activity with peer support and connection with nature – all known to positively impact mental health.

Beyond talking therapies and peer support, North East Wales Mind offers wellbeing courses and activities aimed at equipping individuals with practical tools for managing their mental health. These include courses such as "Living Life to the Full" and "Wellness Recovery Action Plan" (WRAP), which empower individuals to develop skills and strategies for maintaining their well-being and navigating challenges. They also offer relaxation sessions and yoga, promoting stress reduction and emotional regulation.
