Based in Birmingham, Ardenleigh operates as a Secure Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS). It offers residential care and round-the-clock support for male and female young people up to 18 years old across three wards: Atlantic, Pacific, and Adriatic, each providing five beds.
Ardenleigh also runs Youth First, a specialist community assessment service. Youth First delivers comprehensive, multi-disciplinary evaluations of young people, offering guidance on diagnosis, psychological formulation, risk assessment, and recommendations for interventions, placements, and care plans.
A core principle at Ardenleigh is ensuring that only individuals who will genuinely benefit from their interventions are admitted to the forensic youth service. Stays can range from short-term assessment periods to longer terms of approximately two years. To be referred, a young person must be under 18 and either involved in or at risk of offending behaviour.
