Our dedicated service, known as Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), provides vital support for young people across Bolton. We typically assist individuals between the ages of five and eighteen who are experiencing challenges with their mental well-being. Our core mission is to empower children and adolescents to navigate and overcome difficulties related to their emotions, thought processes, and, at times, their conduct. We understand that growing up can present a unique set of hurdles, and sometimes, these can feel overwhelming. That’s where we come in, offering a compassionate and understanding environment where young people can explore their feelings and develop effective coping strategies.
We believe in a collaborative approach to mental health care. Our multidisciplinary team works closely with a range of professionals, including general practitioners, hospital staff, and educators. This integrated network allows us to gain a holistic understanding of each young person's circumstances, ensuring that our assessments are thorough and our treatment plans are tailored to their specific needs. We recognise the crucial role that parents and carers play in a child's development and well-being, which is why we also extend our support to them, offering guidance and resources to help them best assist their children. When you engage with our service, the CAMHS team will undertake a comprehensive assessment to determine the most appropriate and effective course of treatment. This initial step is fundamental to creating a personalised pathway to recovery and improved mental health. Our aim is always to provide interventions that are not only beneficial but also practical and sustainable in the long term, equipping young people with the tools they need to thrive.
As part of the National Health Service (NHS), our provision is rooted in the commitment to public health and accessible care. We offer support predominantly in person, believing that direct, face-to-face interaction fosters stronger therapeutic relationships and allows for a more nuanced understanding of the challenges faced by young people and their families. This personal approach ensures that every individual receives the attentive and detailed care they deserve, right here in their local community. Should you need to get in touch with our office, you can reach us directly by telephoning 01204 483 222. For written correspondence or referrals, our email address is boh-tr.boltoncamhs@gmmh.nhs.uk. We are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of Bolton's children and young people, helping them build resilience and fostering brighter, healthier futures.
