The newly established Beacon Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) is an outpatient therapeutic service designed to offer targeted psychological interventions for women experiencing mental health difficulties during and after pregnancy. We provide support for those facing moderate, severe, and complex mental health challenges that significantly impact their daily lives or their developing relationship with their baby. This includes difficulties linked to Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder following birth trauma or perinatal loss, baby loss at any stage, or a severe fear of childbirth.
Referrals to the Beacon MMHS must be made by a health or social care professional. To refer, simply complete the referral form and email it to whcnhs.maternalmhs@nhs.net. All referrals are reviewed and discussed at our weekly multi-disciplinary team meeting to determine the most appropriate course of action. Following this, a letter will be sent to both the patient and the referrer, detailing the outcome – which could be an appointment with our service, an onward referral to another service, or helpful advice and signposting.
For any queries or further information, you can reach us at 01905 520410.
